Demand for N. Ft. Worth Homes
Master planned communities have cropped up in North Ft. Worth along with their associated parks, greenbelts and trails. Many neighborhoods offer community amenity centers with pools and ball fields plus the organizations to keep neighbors busy with everything from book clubs to children's playgroups.
You'll find preowned, nearly new and plenty of new construction homes in the North Fort Worth area. The neighborhood developers' combination of planning and savvy has caught the attention of home buyers in the area who are not only coming to participate in the economic growth, but also the outstanding schools serving the North Fort Worth area. Those schools include the Northwest and Keller ISD's.
The future looks bright for the North Fort Worth area as Tarrant County ranks among the country's top 10 largest population growth areas year after year. While it's still possible to see longhorn cattle on a few large acreage plots of prairie, new developments, both residential and commercial, are transforming the area.
Development of the North Ft. Worth area known as Alliance really began with a long range plan by Hillwood Development who, it could be said, are the creators of the entire N. Fort Worth phenomenon. It all started in the late 1980's with the construction of Alliance Airport. That was shortly followed with completion of the BNSF Intermodal Facility.
Residential & Retail
The growth in jobs to the area was exponential. Neighborhoods such as Park Glen, a Hillwood development, filled the housing needs and introduced the area to the idea of planned communities with trails, parks and playgrounds. Retail soon followed. But that was just the start.
2015 and 2016 saw Tarrant Count's population increase by over 35,000, with North Ft. Worth garnering more than it's share of new residents. And it doesn't appear the growth is going to let up. Major new projects and employers are eager to jump in to the growth and new proposals seem to be announced routinely.
Hillwood is responsible for many of the retail projects in the area including Alliance Town Center, home to (at my last count) 39 restaurants and 41 stores, and it's still growing. Home owners will also find medical facilities including full-service hospitals and emergency rooms, office space and hotels among the multitude of residential choices.
4 Quick things you should know about living in North Fort Worth
- People often refer to NFW as Keller. That's because the 76244 zip code used to be a Keller zip (and is still served by the Keller post office). The actual border between the cities follows Highway 377 except for a tiny portion of 2 or 3 neighborhoods between 1709 and Wall Price-Keller Rd.
- It used to be that if you lived in NFW you spent your weekends shopping in Southlake, Keller or along Highway 377. Not any more. The shopping and dining choices on both sides of I-35 are just too good to pass up.
- Even locals are surprised that the Northwest ISD boundary comes as far south as it does. It's actually within a few blocks of KISD's Timber Creek High school and it splits many neighborhood like Villages of Woodland Springs.
- North Fort Worth spans both Tarrant and Denton Counties. Denton County taxes are lower then Tarrant County.
On the west side of I-35 is Presidio Junction. Anchored by a Costco Wholesale and Target, Presidio Junction has over 60 stores plus more restaurants, both fast food, popular chain "sit-down's" and everything in between. As far as one can see looking west from the intersection of Heritage Trace Parkway is now a sea of suburban rooftops. The north Ft. Worth offers relatively affordable housing amid some of the best planned neighborhood communities being built today.
Further north, close to the Texas Motor Speedway, the 18 hole Golf Club at Champions Circle, Tanger outlet mall, Buc-ee's and Cabela's hold down the land that used to be rolling hills. Again, new housing developments are moving the same northerly direction while still offering home owners an easy commute to the large business parks across North Ft. Worth and the Alliance area.

The North Fort Worth area not only benefits from a strong job market, but also its location in between two on the stronger school districts in the Metroplex. Home buyers are served by either the Northwest or Keller ISD.
The school district boundaries are much different than many homebuyers imagine, so it's always best to consult district maps. You'll find links to district maps here on DFWMoves.com under the main school district pages. Even locals are sometimes surprised that the Keller ISD boundary runs west of I-35 or that the Northwest district dips as far south as Timberland Blvd. - almost within sight of Keller's Timbercreek High School.

Buyers have a choice of housing style, price, size and amenity level in Ft. Worth that is as wide as any area in the metroplex. Things To Do in North Ft. Worth
Show Me The Money
Take a tour of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, better known as the Money Factory. The audio tour is self guided and free if you don't consider your tax dollars. No cell phones allowed, and sorry, no samples given.
Fish at Cabela's
Their 5-acre Lone Star Lake is stocked with bass, catfish and perch. So grab your gear, tackle and bait and get over there for a nearby day "at the lake". Check in at the Greeters desk. Stop inside for a peice of fudge, too.
Run an obstacle course 20 feet above the ground at the Presidio Main Event. Cross the swaying rope bridges, suspended balance beams and an elevated tightrope without a net. Put on your harness, hook up your rig and you're off.
Play A Round
Play 18 holes at The Golf Club at Champions Circle. Golf Digest calls it "The best kept secret in DFW". Resort style golf at an affordable course that takes full advantage of the area's hillsides, trees and natural creeks.
