Flower Mound
Texas
Newcomers often ask about "the mound"... Yes there really is a flower mound. The town derived its name in the 1840's due to the unusual amount of wildflowers that grow on the 12 acre hill even to this day. You can still see part of that mound, along with much more of the city's pastoral nature and rolling hills. They've been preserved by a forward thinking community that monitors zoning and density closely despite the rapid growth. A picturesque area, parts of the city retain pastures of grazing horses surrounded by residential neighborhoods.

A Picturesque
Master Planned Community
Flower Mound is located in Denton County, just 22 miles northwest of downtown Dallas and only 10 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The city continues to be one of the faster growing cities in the area. But the growth has been well managed by the city's master plan outlining how the 46 square miles that make up the city are used.
Walking and jogging trails connecting neighborhoods to parks and amenities have been written into the land use plan. Still a picturesque area, the city retains pastures of grazing horses surrounded by residential neighborhoods. Money Magazine ranked Flower Mound the "Number One Place to Live in Texas", while BusinessWeek.com listed Flower Mound as one of the Top 25 Best Affordable U.S. Suburbs.
